  • (26/27 Season) - Romantic Bruckner - November 14

    This concert opens with a short tone poem depicting a hero making a dangerous journey to meet the faraway princess he’s fallen in love with after only hearing of her beauty, and closes with Bruckner’s towering 4th symphony filled with heroic horn calls, a minstrel’s lament and more!

    This concert will feature a smaller, more intimate orchestra and features the return of The Ballad of the Brown King by popular demand.

    An overture opens this concert from what is considered to be the first true Romantic Era opera. Dvořák's seldom-heard 4th symphony is the focal point for this concert in our “Season of Fourths”.

    Our Season of Fourths comes to a terrific conclusion with one of Mahler’s gentler works, featuring a solo soprano in the last movement and paired with Samuel Barber’s Knoxville: Summer 1915, both sung by one of Avanti’ favorite guests, Heather Holmquest
